Muscle cars are performance cars made mostly in Detroit, Michigan from 1964 - 1974. The muscle car manufacturers placed large V8 engines in
mid-sized automobiles, giving them lofty levels of performance and setting off extreme rivalry between the manufacturers to produce the most powerful,
quickest and fastest muscle cars for sale during those times.

Along with more than 13,000 drag racing timelips, dyno graphs, pictures and drag racing videos, DragTimes.com now has dedicated areas featuring classic cars and muscle cars for sale.  Muscle cars from all over the country are broken down and organized into the top 100 metropolitan areas throughout the US.

Ford Flex: Ugly Duckling Or Swan In The Making?

Ford Flex: Ugly Duckling Or Swan In The Making?
During the early 1970s, when the American Motors Company (AMC) was still around, the company aired a television advertisement in which a voice asked, “What Is It?” Featured on screen was the AMC Matador, a sedan that looked like a distorted Dodge Dart. In the background another voice answered with passion, “Its a Matador!” That ad came to mind when I was thinking of ways to describe the soon to be released Ford Flex, a crossover vehicle that defies easy description. I’ve seen the Flex up close at a pair of auto shows this year, but I haven’t driven one yet. (Read the full post about ‘Ford Flex: Ugly Duckling Or Swan In The Making?’…)

Memorial Day Automotive Quick Takes

Memorial Day Automotive Quick Takes
Matt Keegan, The Auto Writer, extends his thanks to the families of the men and women who gave their lives while serving in America’s military. I appreciate their sacrifices which have helped spread freedom and liberty around the world. I’m taking a break for the Memorial Day holiday and will be back in the driver’s seat on Tuesday with all-new stuff. In the meantime, please enjoy the following automotive articles I found while scouring the internet: Ford has gotten plenty of mileage from its American Idol sponsorship this year, by introducing its redesigned Ford Focus coupe on the air earlier this month. Short Term Fixes For A Long Term Oil Problem

Short Term Fixes For A Long Term Oil Problem
We all know that our dependency on foreign oil is wreaking havoc on our lives today. What’s particularly sad is that a pair of wake up calls in the 1970s went virtually unheeded and we’re more dependent on international crude than every before. Congress is trying to place the blame on the oil companies for excessive profiteering while the President wants OPEC to increase production. With the former, Congress isn’t telling the American people the truth — oil companies plow the bulk of their profits back into exploration. A windfall profit tax would be passed on to consumers essentially shifting taxes to where it would hurt the most. (Read the full post about ‘Short Term Fixes For A Long Term Oil Problem’…)

Win A Car Contests & Other Nifty Prizes!

Win A Car Contests & Other Nifty Prizes!
Who doesn’t like to win prizes? I know that I do. Yet, I rarely bother to enter most sweepstakes, figuring that I don’t stand a chance to win. You know what? I don’t because I haven’t filled out the entry form. As with any contest, you gotta be in it to win it. I know people who have a knack at winning sweepstakes because they take the time to see what is out there and carefully choose the contests that are right for them. Automakers, part suppliers, and other companies who gear their products to today’s drivers often develop sweepstakes as part of their marketing programs. Sure, it may cost them a car, a year’s supply of free car washes, or some other expense, but the marketing attention they receive with these schemes pays off. The Rising Value of Your Fuel Efficient Car

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

I drive a 2001 Dodge Neon ES, a car with less than 40,000 miles on it. When I purchased it from the used car dealer five years ago, it had just 17,000 miles on the odometer. I paid exactly $7000 for the car, not a bad price for a vehicle with low miles.

As you can tell, I don’t drive the car all that much as I work from home and only have need of it about two days per week. My wife and I have thought about selling it, but on those days when I really need a vehicle, sharing her Toyota RAV4 would just not work out. Besides, at the rate that I am going, I’ll still have a low mileage car to give to my oldest child when he starts driving in seven years!

My car is in excellent condition and would fetch a nice price if I were to sell it.

Viral Marketing Success: Chrysler’s Let’s Refuel America Initiative

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Automakers, like all major corporations, craft marketing campaigns designed to help drum up business. Many times these campaigns are developed in coordination with an ad agency to help find the “sweet spot” where customer interest is turned into actual sales.

Some campaigns are a bust, quickly scrapped and soon forgotten. Others, do their job and help bring in a steady stream of customers who might otherwise not show up at a particular brand’s new car showroom, giving sales people the opportunity to market their products.

Once in awhile a marketing campaign has an impact that not only brings in additional customers, but provokes the type of controversy that causes the campaign to go viral.
